Artur Becker was born 1968 in Bartoszyce, Masuria.
He has resided in Germany since 1985. Artur Becker writes novels, poems and essays. He is also a translator. He is a member of German P.E.N. Center.

• Grant of the German House in New York (2000) awarded by the National Art Foundaition, Berlin.
• Author's Grant of the German Literary Fund Darmstadt for the novel "Uncle Jimmy, the Indians and me" (2000/2001).
• Awarded for the novel Kino Muza with the annual  scholarship for literature 2002 by the Minister of Education of Lower Saxony.
• 2003 Grant of the LCB in Berlin (Literarisches Colloquium Berlin)
• Grant of the Casa Baldi in Olevano Romano of German
  Academy(2005),Villa Massimo in Rom and the Ministry of Public Worship and Instruction in Berlin.
• "Bordercrosser - Middel- and Easteurope" - Grant of the
  Robert Bosch Foundaition for the shortnovel "The time of stints" und for the novel "The Heart of Chopin" (2005).
• Authors’ Bursary by the Else-Heiliger-Fonds of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation 2006.
• Author's Grant of the German Literary Fund Darmstadt for the novel "Wodka and Knife. Drowning Song " (2007).
